Diapers?  Planning the menu? Homeschooling?  I think I’ve landed in the wrong place...this has nothing to do with my life!

Had this thought while reading the Happy Little Homemaker?  Ever thought, “some day, this will all make sense to me...but not quite yet!”  Trust me, I’ve been there!  Reading Jacinda’s blog has quickly become part of my daily routine, but often the topics get filed under “someday when I’m a wife and mother” and not “oh yes, this applies to me now!”.  Jacinda asked me to reach out to those of who may relate a bit better to my life; those of you who want to be a godly woman, but aren’t sure how that works when you’re not a married woman.  That’s where I come in. :)
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started to write this post.  I want so much to share with you the blessings of living as a woman for God, regardless of marital status...but I’ve no idea where to start.  And, truth be told, my heart is no example to follow.  Being single has not been easy for me.  The desire of my heart is to be a wife and mother, joyfully serving the Lord in that capacity for the rest of my life.  And, I want it soon.  However, in the words of James MacDonald, “I’ve found that God is amazingly unresponsive to my ultimatums.”  So I choose to live, daily striving—and failing, and striving some more—to live a life pleasing to God.
One thing I urge you sisters, is to make use of the time you’ve been given.  I know for sure that wherever God has placed you, He wants you to be making the most of it, finding ways to glorify Him, serving others, being a helper to those in need.
We may wish away our days of single womanhood, but the fact of the matter is that we are so much more free and mobile than a married woman!  Appreciate the freedom you have in planning your schedule!  Sooner than you’d like to think, your days won’t be yours.
It is easy for a married woman, a wife and mother, to sit back and tell us as single women to “relax, don’t worry, someone’s out there waiting for you.  It’s not God’s norm for His creation to be alone.”  It’s a lot harder for someone on the other side of the fence to say the same!  But it is true!  God designed men and women as relational creatures, and it is not His norm for us to live our whole lives as single women!  If He chooses to call you to singleness, He will supply the grace needed, but most likely, He is sanctifying you at the same time He is sanctifying your future mate, so that when the all-knowing Father brings you together, your marriage will be one that centres ‘round Him.  When you look at it from that perspective, it’s really quite encouraging!
There is so much more to say for living life as a godly woman, apart from marital status, but alas, no space to write...this time.  If you can excuse the shameless plug for my own blog, This Little {Life} of Mine, I’ll tell you that I’ve just begun to tackle the subject and hope to unfold at least some of the truths God shows us in His Word with respect to living out His design for our lives!
To God be all the glory of my life, whatever He chooses for me, wherever He chooses me to be, with whomever He chooses to place in my life.  And may it be in your life also!
